Newham University Hospital is a busy hospital in the heart of East London. The Accident and Emergency sees approximately 84,000 patients a year with a variety of illness and injuries. We are currently looking to employ Band 6 Registered Nurses within our Accident and Emergency Department.

We are looking for Band 6 nurses who are enthusiastic and hardworking and enjoy a challenge and working in a high energy environment. Opportunities exist for dual-trained (Adult and Paediatric) Registered Nurses to participate in internal rotation between the two areas. The emergency department offers a unique insight into East London life and its associated medical conditions, illness and emergencies. We strive towards delivering high standard of care to our patients and their families. We provide extensive in-house training and have wide access to courses at City University. Internal rotation operates, covering different times of day and night, as well as weekends.

In addition to the main Emergency Department we have a 22-bedded Emergency Assessment Area (EAA), where patients admitted under specialty teams can undergo assessment and investigation in a more comfortable environment. Opportunity to work solely in this setting is available for those who enjoy working in a ward area, and wish to develop their skills in this area.

We need nurses who can:
•Work as part of a multi disciplinary team
•Be enthusiastic and motivated
•Enjoy a challenge

You will possess the following skills:

Core skills
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Desirable: Preparation for Mentorship (or equivalent)
•Desirable: ALS/ APLS/ Trauma course
•Commitment to personal and professional development
Emergency Department Emergency Assessment Area
•At least three years post registration experience, with at least one years recent experience in an Emergency Department
•Desirable: Course 199/NO3 •
At least three years post registration experience, with experience in an Emergency Department, acute medical and/or acute surgical setting
•Desirable:E Course – 199/NO3
